James Ager Worthy (born February 27, 1961) is a retired professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest forwards in basketball history. He played his entire professional career for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and achieved great success, winning three NBA championships (1985, 1987, 1988) and being named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1988.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Worthy had an impressive high school career and continued his success at the University of North Carolina, where he helped lead the Tar Heels to an NCAA championship in 1982.
