81 years ago - on April 6, 1944 - Klaus Barbie, the head of the Gestapo in Lyon, ordered the roundup and deportation of 44 Jewish children and their seven carers from the Maison d’Izieu. Many of them perished in death camps afterwards. WeRemember. (fb)

Over the weekend, a street in Plainview, Long Island was renamed to “Captain Omer Neutra’s Way,” to commemorate the late Omer Neutra, an American-Israeli IDF soldier who was murdered on October 7. Omer’s body is being held hostage in Gaza. Omer’s parents, Ronen and Orna Neutra, led the ceremony. “We’re very blessed to have such a community,” they said, calling on the American leadership to “act swiftly to bring the 59 hostages back home.” Beside them were the family of American-Israeli hostage and IDF soldier Edan Alexander, who is believed to still be alive in Gaza. The families are doing everything within their power to save the living hostages, and to bring the deceased home for proper burials. We must share their message: #BringThemHomeNow (fb)
