NEW: Ex-Olympian turned FBI Top 10 most wanted fugitive Ryan Wedding lands in Southern California to face murder and drug charges. Wedding represented Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics before leading an alleged billion-dollar drug-smuggling operation. Authorities say Wedding was working under the protection of one of Mexico's most powerful drug rings, the Sinaloa Cartel. "He’s the modern-day El Chapo," FBI Director Kash Patel said. Wedding, who has reportedly been living in Mexico for the last decade, is accused of being connected to the killings of a federal witness along with three other people. The indictment alleges that Wedding ran a billion-dollar drug trafficking group that would move drugs into the U.S. using semitrucks. The drugs were allegedly stored in Southern California before they were sent across the U.S. and Canada. "The murder charges accuse Wedding of directing the 2023 killings of two members of a Canadian family in retaliation for a stolen drug shipment, and for ordering a killing over a drug debt in 2024," AP reported. Wedding is accused of moving about 60 tons of cocaine from Latin America into the U.S. annually. He turned himself in at the U.S. embassy in Mexico City. -
